About GPSS Committees!
GPSS has a variety of internal Committees that participate in decision making for the organization. One of the ways that students can voice graduate needs across campus is through these. There are several standing Committees that exist every year. Each Committee has a specific set of responsibilities and issues that they cover. Most of these Committees are open to any graduate and professional student.
GPSS Liaison!
The GPSS President appoints graduate and professional students to serve as GPSS Liaisons to the University committees, which determine policies that impact graduate and professional students. Learn more about the general appointment of a Liaison by reading the Liaison Handbook.
GPSS liaisons serve on university committees, ensuring that the voices of graduate and professional students are represented in key institutional decisions. These roles are critical to the function of GPSS and the university more broadly, with committee topics ranging from allocating funds for student services to shaping policy.
Serving as a liaison is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on leadership and governance experience at one of the world’s leading research universities. You will work directly with university administrators, faculty, and other student leaders, gaining insight into how institutional decisions are made and influencing outcomes that impact thousands of students. This experience can strengthen your professional profile, enhance your understanding of higher education systems, and provide concrete examples of leadership, collaboration, and advocacy for your academic or professional career.
Please note: While some committee appointments offer stipends (notably SAF, STF, and CSF), most are volunteer positions.
